Canadian dream-pop fixtures TOPS have been on the radar for quite a while now. Cutting their teeth at Montreal's famed DIY mecca Lab Synthèse alongside the likes of Mac Demarco and Grimes, lead singer Jane Penny admits the band were craving a change of context to create their upcoming album Sugar at the Gate. Temporarily upping sticks and renting a house to produce themselves in sunny California was just what they needed as the final taster from the LP proves. 'Further' is a fresh take on TOPS' signature shimmering dream pop, drenched in chilled-out summer vibes with a pinch of sassiness thrown in for good measure, which makes for one of their catchiest numbers to date.
